Something cheap but worthwhile. I was looking around and noticed that yahoo was doing a promotion and offering domain name registration at a very good price. $ 4.98. How can you beat that?
After looking things over a bit I then registered my new domain name through Yahoo. The truth was that the entire process could not have been easier. My domain was ready to go right away. I could not believe how smoothly things went.

Here are the good points regarding Yahoo Domain Registration:

Yahoo! Domains: $4.98 for a Year
Yahoo! is running a deal where you can get a .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, or .us for $4.98 a year. Yahoo!Domains include 24/7 support, web page and forwarding. The second best deal on the net was $8.95 from GoDaddy. The catch is: you can only sign-up for one domain and the offer is only available during the web browser session (when you click the special link at the end of this post) and ends if the you do not complete or interrupt the current order process. Go here for this deal.

For the most part this is a great service they are offering.

"According to PC Magazine "domain registration through Yahoo! A domain name, such as widget-designs.com, functions as your address on the Internet, just as 1234 Main Street serves as the address for your home.
Most people choose a domain name that reflects their business or organization name or personal interests. You should try to come up with a unique and concise name that is easy to say, remember, and spell. But don't worry, we have tools that will inspire your creativity or suggest names if you're stuck.

When you register a domain name, you can choose from an assortment of web address extensions, including .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us. You can purchase just one, or return to purchase the rest later to protect your domain name from competitors.

Yahoo! Domains allows you to register a domain name for up to 5 years and offers all of the major domain name extensions at affordable prices. Here is a complete list of available extensions and their requirements.

Domains Yahoo

Domains Yahoo
Topping the list is "domains yahoo" at $97.44 a click. I'm dying to know who would pay that much for someone clicking on "domains yahoo". That's a lot of scads, cash, or whatever you want to call it.

Some other big prices were "domain name yahoo", "domain yahoo", "yahoo web hosting", and a bunch of lemon ones ("ca lemon law","law lemon ohio","california law lemon"). Lemons? Go figure. Anyway, it's an interesting look at online advertising.

What is Domain?
A name by which a computer connected to the Internet is identified. A typical domain name looks like this: www.ibm.com. The "www." refers to the fact that this computer is connected to the World Wide Web; the middle portion of a domain name is usually the name of the company that owns the computer—in this case,IMB ; the final portion of a domain name tells you what kind of site is served by this machine—in this case, ‘.com’ means this is a commercial site...

Yahoo! has a service called Yahoo! Small Business that sells domain names at a very attractive price. If you think of registering a domain through them, read on. And maybe also have a look at what others say.

First Yahoo! is not an accredited domain registrar, but simply a reseller for the Australian domain registrar Melbourne IT. If you ever have a problem with you domain registration however, you'll have to deal with Yahoo!, and their support is appalling to an extent I have never met before. They consistently and repeatedly reply to emails with irrelevant pre-made messages: this did not happen to me once or twice, but about fifteen times.

Given my first experience with their support staff, I rushed to transfer my domain to another registrar as soon as the 60-day no-transfer period after registration was over. The transfer was systematically denied. Whenever I got a human to reply, their answer showed a striking ignorance of .com transfer procedures, replying with transfer requirement only applicable to other types of domains (.info,…).

After three days, I ended up calling them and I was told that they could not do anything and referred me to Melbourne IT. Emailing and calling Autralia several times, I was told that I had to deal with the reseller (Yahoo!) directly.

I don't know at this point if my transfer will finally go through, but I have already spent much more in international calls than even the most expensive domain registrar around (e.g. Network Solutions sell domains at USD35)...
